The ‘Cloud First Policy’ introduced by the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology advises that for any new IT investment, civilian and government entities should consider Cloud solutions as opposed to traditional solutions. The open-source government software strategy launched in November 2021 by the Digital Government Authority to drive digital transformation in Saudi Arabia is estimated to contribute SR 5 billion ($1.3 billion) to the Kingdom’s digital economy for the next four years to 2026. The pandemic has fundamentally paced the digital transformation acceleration and has become more relevant in recent months with 92 percent of decision-makers in government relying on emerging technologies.
